The Menomonie City Council has decided to have Wards 3 – 9 vote at City Hall for the February election.
Ward 6 usually votes at the Methodist Church on Bongey. Turnout is expected to be very low since the only ballot item just reduces the number of candidates for school board from seven to six.
There is no immediate plan to individually notify voters so make a note of it now.
This move will probably confuse and discourage even more voters so it is important for you to educate yourself and show up at the (proper) polls.
Voting when everyone else stays home makes your vote much more powerful, like when your charity donation is kicked up by a triple matching grant or something!
These were my Public Comments at the January 18 meeting when this move was discussed:
“I’d like to speak to agenda item “F,” which suggests that we reduce the number of polling places for the February school board primary. If you are expecting a turnout that is really low, I would ask you to consider going with hand-counted paper ballots only, since there is a great distrust in this community of electronic voting machines in general and those new, particular, Dominion machines you bought. Many citizens believe those machines were DESIGNED specifically to commit election fraud.”
We will talk more about Menomonie and Dunn County’s brand new Dominion machines in a future post. Be sure to subscribe so you won’t miss it!
