Welcome to National School Choice Week!
In January?
Yes.
Now is the time to think about where you want your children to go to school next year because . . .
1) There are many considerations and options to sort through.
2) There are April deadlines for those who want to change school district or apply for free private education through the Wisconsin Choice program.
3) The early bird thing – the longer you wait, the fewer open spots there will be in many programs.
Great general information can be found at the schoolchoiceweek.com website to help you begin your search.

Immanuel Baptist School - back up and running!
National School Choice Week made me wonder how Immanuel Baptist Church was doing with their newly reopened school in Menomonie. I called the church number, 715-235-3561, and talked to Breanna.
The school is having a great first year, with eight students enrolled! Considering that there are 2 ½ full time teachers, that gives a current ratio of less than four students per teacher. One classroom includes the 7 - 12th grade students and the other, K – 6th. Kindergartners have a special teacher of their own for half of every day in a third room. A gym is available for recess breaks on cold days.

Being a Baptist school, every day there is a 45 minute Bible class and there is Chapel on Thursdays. The Landmark Freedom Baptist Curriculum provides structure and lesson plans.
Cost for Kindergarten students is $2700/year. 1st - 12th grade tuition is between $4,500 and $5,000/year. There aren't scholarships at this point and the school does not participate in the Choice scholarship program through the state. There is, however, a discount for families with more than one student. The public school schedule is followed closely, allowing for free bus service through the school district.
Contact Immanuel Baptist for a school information packet or with any questions.
But, wait! There’s more!
Summit Christian Academy
This new Menomonie private school is gearing up for a fall 2023 opening. I was unable to get in-depth information by time of publication but you can contact them through the above weblink.
This should be enough to get you started. Don’t wait until summer to do the research. Your options decline as time passes.
Update: 2/2/23 - From the Wisconsin School Choice Facebook page.
Great information!
