There was a mayoral candidate forum last night at Menomonie High School. City Council candidates were invited to speak for two minutes. Here is the video.
You can hear my talk at 11 minutes, after the other council candidates. The mayor gives his opinion about election integrity at 28:20. The rest is pretty dull.
The mayor went on to say “It’s all hand tabulated after the machine counts.” Not sure what “hand tabulated” means here but it does NOT mean hand counted. The city has told me they will not hand count ballots. Not of even ONE race in ONE randomly selected precinct after elections, as I have requested. They do not believe that fraud could happen in Menomonie.
This is what I said at the forum last night.
“My name is Joyce Uhlir and I am running for Council Ward 6. My opponent is a 24 year incumbent, who says if it isn’t broke don’t fix it. But it is broke!
I first considered running back in 2019 after the council canceled Christopher Columbus by replacing his day with Indigenous People’s Day.
My opponent insisted that none of the other 364 days of the year were suitable for recognizing Indigenous People because then ‘. . . we haven’t accomplished really what we want to do with this.’
Then shortly after the presidential election, the council bought new Dominion voting machines and, to this day, refuse to acknowledge the citizens’ concerns about this with anything other than locking the public out of City Council meetings for the last year.
While the School Board was having rowdy meetings with 100 angry citizens in this very room, City Council meetings fled to ZOOM-only, with some council members participating over the phone! The week before this event, nine days ago, the mayor finally announced the council will resume in-person meetings.
I will fight for election integrity and against all mandates and lockdowns. It is broken. We need change. Please vote Joyce Uhlir for Ward 6. Thank you.”
